Fitness & Recreational Programs
This program enables young people to go beyond their comfort zones by learning unique skills such as juggling, walking a tight rope, diablo, balancing plates, clowning, stilt walking, gymnastics and more. This program provides a unique opportunity for PAL youth to experience positive personal growth as well increase their self-confidence and their sense of personal identity.
Running Program / LA Marathon
In partnership with the Students Run LA program, PAL youth in grades 7 through 12 experience the benefits of goal-setting, character development, adult mentoring and improved health through PAL's running program. It provides them with a truly life-changing experience to train and complete the Honda LA Marathon. Youth begin their training with PAL in September and run each month in community races throughout the LA area in preparation of the big day. To date over 40 PAL youth have run and completed the LA Marathon.
Under the tutelage of Master Robert Temple, youth learn the martial art of karate. Classes range from beginning to advanced for youth.
Classes cover proper punching technique, defensive movement and footwork using heavy bags and punching mitts for beginners up through competitive.
