Fitness & Recreational Programs

Cirque Du Monde Program

In partnership with Cirque du Soleil, Cirque du Monde is program that enables young people to go beyond their comfort zones by learning unique skills such as juggling, walking a tight rope, diablo, balancing plates, clowning, stilt walking, gymnastics and more. This program provides a unique opportunity for PAL youth to experience positive personal growth as well increase their self-confidence and their sense of personal identity.

Running Program / LA Marathon

In partnership with the Students Run LA program, PAL youth in grades 7 through 12 experience the benefits of goal-setting, character development, adult mentoring and improved health through PAL's running program. It provides them with a truly life-changing experience to train and complete the Honda LA Marathon. Youth begin their training with PAL in September and run each month in community races throughout the LA area in preparation of the big day. To date over 23 PAL youth have run and completed the LA Marathon.

2016 - 2017 Running Schedule

Karate

Under the tutelage of Master Robert Temple, youth learn the martial art of karate. Classes range from beginning to advanced for youth.

Boxing

Classes cover proper punching technique, defensive movement and footwork using heavy bags and punching mitts for beginners up through competitive.

Sports Strength Training

Youth learn hard core training for conditioning the body for sports. This program can be used for cross training in basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, football and more. Nutrition is additional focus as it is an important component of a healthy lifestyle.

PAL is a public-private partnership operated by the City of Santa Monica. PAL is a 501(c)3 corporation with a non-profit Board of Directors. Donations to PAL are tax exempt to the extent allowed by law and are devoted to program related activities.
